J.H. Cook and Sons was founded in 1902 in Salisbury, NC. by John Henderson Cook as a shoe repair shop. After a few years in the shoe repair industry, John Henderson Cook brought his two sons Robert Cook Sr. and Curtis Cook into the business and officially incorporated J.H. Cook and Sons.

J.H. Cook and his two sons became one of the largest shoe repair finders in the southeastern United States. In 1968, Robert “Bob” Cook Jr. became part owner in J.H. Cook and Sons and became president of the company in 1986. In 1991, Bob Cook’s oldest son Allen D. Cook joined the business and helped to develop the business to include a large customer base of Orthopedic and Pedorthic Businesses. Robert Cook Jr. “Bob,” continued to expand J.H. Cook’s territories and developed the business in a constantly evolving market until his retirement in 2012.

In 2012 Robert Cook Jr’s oldest son Allen D. Cook, purchased J.H. Cook and Sons. Allen Cook’s oldest son Christopher Cook joined Allen in the business in 2013. Allen’s wife Michelle joined J.H. Cook and Sons, in 2015 and they both worked alongside Allen until his untimely passing in 2023 at the young age of 55.

J.H. Cook and Sons is now owned and operated by Allen’s wife Michelle Cook and his oldest son Christopher Cook. J.H. Cook and Sons is a 5th generation family business that has been in the Cook family for over 120 years. This business continues to serve the many customers in this industry and provides them with new and innovative products, as well as the products that have been used for the 120 years we have been in this industry.

J.H. Cook and Sons is a proud member of the Shoe Service Institute of America “SSIA,” and carries thousands of products from different vendors all over the world.
